| Hey everyone i've been doing a lot of 2 gate builds in PvZ on python. I've been messing around with actually getting a build on paper, and so far this is what I've come up with. I'm using this build right now, and am thinking about other changes that can be made. Might not be 100% perfect in numbers. This is just an opening, and not a full game build.
8 - pylon 10 - Gateway 12 - Gateway - cut probe at 15 15 - pylon - resume probes - when pylon + gate complete pump 2 zeals - cut probes @ 21 21 - pylon - pump 2 zeals = 25/25 26 - assimilator cut probe @ 26 + 2 zeals - resume probes - halt zealot production after current zeals finish (2 zealot producing should be # 6 and 7) - cybernetics core. ..... continue from here as u like. Cybernetics core is to tech to stargate, u can expand here instead, but i fin that to be extremely risky due to zerg tech options, and i normally dont expand until after i have a stargate and a forge.
Tell me what you think. This build order does not describe when to attack with zealots, that is up to you dependent on the situation. I find that you can scout pretty late with this build(after 2nd gate is what i like), because its extremely safe against pretty much anything zerg can do. I used to be opening 8 pylon, 10 gate, 12 gate, 13 pylon, but i find the pylon at 15 fits in much more smoothly. Anyways feedback/criticism/etc appreciated.
Note this build is meant for maps like python which have fairly close starting positions and a ramp that is easily held with 2 zealots.

| This works well on outsider | |

| I think it's ok on outsider, but the problem is that the zerg can expand behind his base, and, depending on his starting location, he might be able to hold his ramp with some lings and a sunken behind. Although at the top postition he won't be able to get a sunken in range(i think). Although most oten the zerg will expand to his natural, at least if he does 12 hatch. although if he goes 9 pool and scouts u, he should be able to do the trick i mentioned here. Although that doesn't mean the build has failed completely, the protoss can still expand/tech. So i guess that I do agree with u then. | |

| I'll join this convo:D Basically what i'm trying to do is sorta work on one build per matchup, so working on 3 builds simultaneously (more like focus on one per session tho), anyways would you say FFE is easier than 2 gate? Strictly pvz speaking of course:) Just wanted to decide on a pvz build before i start practicing it | |

| I would say that 2 gate is easier since you don't have to macro very much early on, but it's very important to try and make the following decisions correctly: When to engage u enemies defense head-on, when to maybe try and run past his sunkens(if he did 12-hatch) and into his main, when to expand, when to tech, when to stop/continue making zealots. Micro also plays a very big factor when doing a 2 gate build.
The biggest problem with 2 gate, however, is that it is only good on maps with ramps, or a very small choke, and only good if there is a relatively short walking distance between bases. Python is an excellent map for 2 gate, whereas Heartbreak Ridge is terrible for it. Fast expand is viable on almost every map.

| 2 gate is definitely a bit tougher to play, seeing as you have to micro intensely otherwise zerg has the advantage. though the macro isn't much, its hard to macro + micro at the same time effectively, so I'd say pulling off a proper 2 gate is more difficult. | |
